This Wednesday we'll do a throw-back to Katie's childhood for the special: Sauerkraut, Kielbasa, and Mashed Potatoes! Comfort food from colder climates, y'all. Don't know if it's Polish or German or what exactly, but my Mama made it and her mama before her, up in Michigan. You'll want to make it in for this one!
We have some news.. Aaron and I have decided that we won't be doing constant vegetarian/vegan versions of specials anymore. We have taken this decision very seriously, and given our severe kitchen limitations, it is a hard one we need to make. It boils down to us not having a true kitchen and the significant extra work that puts on Aaron. I'm not sure how many of you understand the magic he has worked for the last year to make specials happen as he has. It's nothing short of amazing.
And now that we're bringing the first year of specials to a close, it's time to reevaluate. Not having proper equipment makes it a serious challenge to create essentially two if not three specials every week (regular, vegetarian, and vegan) -- from scratch. He has taken on that challenge and done an incredible job. He deserves a break in this area, especially considering all he gives on a daily basis. So. From here on, if something is naturally vegetarian, we'll have a vegetarian special. If it is ridiculously easy to have a variation that will make a special vegetarian, we'll have a vegetarian option. So make sure to check the website and Facebook to find out whether a vegetarian-friendly special will be available each week!!! And please know we appreciate that we can count on our wonderful regulars to understand and know that we are always doing our best for you.
